Full time | limited until 36 months | Announcement number: 259-2024

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join a project of the Molecular Radiation Biology group (Head: Prof. Dr. Franz Rödel) at the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology

Within a multicenter joint research project “Radiation-induced senescence: Implications for normal tissue toxicity and tumor therapy failure (SeniRad)” granted by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), we aim to investigate radiation-induced senescence in tumor-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and its significance for the development of a resistance to radiotherapy. The focus is set on the characterization of the underlying regulatory circuits and on non-cell-autonomous effector mechanisms in CAFs and after medium transfer in tumor-organoid models. The relevance of CAF senescence-associated key components as targets of senotherapeutic intervention will be assessed in an orthotopic animal model.
